Dublin City Council sought proposals for the missing two bays of number 15 Henrietta Street. Our design intention is to repair the street facade and use the idea of the golden section and simple square as a proportioning system for the proposed side and rear facades. Thus the new intervention reflects a mathematical as well as formal relationship with the existing context. A new door opening is proposed to enable disabled visitors to gain access to all levels through the music shop, located at ground level. At basement level an auditorium is proposed to enable Na Piobairi Uillleann, the current occupants of number 15, to stage concerts and recitals. A rear courtyard connects directly with the auditorium and could also be used for Summer concerts.
