Projects > Conservation
The Albert College was built in 1838 and is located on the campus of Dublin City University. The project is concerned with restoring the original large rooms, previously used as laboratories and re-using them as formal staff dining rooms. In addition, smaller more intimate reading / common rooms form part of the scheme.
The circulation within the building has been rationalised and new toilet areas provided and the mechanical and electrical services updated. The exterior fabric has also been conserved and in the first floor dining room additional light has been introduced by opening up the original stone side panels of the windows and creating sidelights, matching those existing on the ground floor.
